Default portfolios to explore

The ready-made portfolios marked [GPS] range from a cautious gold-and-stocks blend to all-in crypto; here's what each one is for and how to pick a starting point.

The default portfolios are finished examples, built by us and open to everyone. The [GPS] after their names stands for Golden Path Strategies; it's simply how you tell a default from a portfolio of your own. You find them on Portfolios under Default portfolios.

They're there to learn from and to copy, not as advice on how to invest. Each one shows a different idea in action: a fixed split, a team of strategies on one coin, a rule that tilts the mix when the market changes.

[Each card: 1. the number of strategies, 2. a mini chart of the portfolio against Buy & Hold, 3. Compare, Bookmark and Duplicate. The ring above the chart shows how the portfolio is split across classes.]

Each card shows how many strategies hold a share of it (strategies that only steer a rule aren't counted), a short description, a mini chart of the portfolio against Buy & Hold, and the usual metrics. PF, Worst and Win show a dash on portfolios; those are per-trade figures and only make sense for a single strategy. The Performance window pills above the cards (1Y to All) change the period the cards are measured over, and Main asset class and Sort by narrow and order the list.

Which one suits you

Start from how much swing you can stomach, then from which markets you care about. The table gives the backtest's yearly growth (CAGR) and its largest fall (Max DD) from 2015 to mid-October 2026, as a member sees them. The free version stops about three months earlier, so its figures differ a little.

If you're new to all this, Conservative Index and Four Pillars Index are the calmest places to start reading, and All-Weather Index is the one to open when you want to understand rules.

Those returns are backtests over a period in which crypto rose enormously. A 100% yearly growth rate over eleven years is not something to expect going forward, and the late-listed coins (HYPE since December 2024, VVV since January 2025) have very little history. Look at Max DD at least as hard as at CAGR: it's the fall you would have had to sit through.

Running any of these for real would mean buying several different markets, often at more than one exchange or broker, and placing every trade yourself. The app only tells you what the simulation did.

Fixed mix or rules

Most of the defaults have a static mix: the split between classes never changes. That's Conservative Index, Singularity Stocks, Four Pillars Index, 80/20, Bitcoin DCA and the three crypto boards Bitcoin-Only, Crypto Momentum and Altcoin Dominance. Each strategy still steps in and out on its own, so the part of the account that's actually invested moves around, but the plan stays put.

The others use rules that change the plan when a signal changes: All-Weather Index, Altcoin Rotation, the Multi-Rule Index, and the two flagships Golden Path and Kralizec. On these boards the strategy a rule follows is listed under Rules at the top of the Weights panel. The page Dynamic mix: rules takes each of them apart.

Looking, copying and changing

Defaults are read-only for everyone. You can switch charts, change the date window and pick another Buy & Hold market, but you can't change strategies, weights or rules: the Weights panel shows plain numbers instead of boxes you can type in, and the Portfolio rules editor isn't there at all. Without a plan your Buy & Hold choice is forgotten when you leave; as a member it's saved, because opening a default quietly gives you your own copy of it (you'll notice the number in the address bar change).

Members get a few more buttons in the header:

[On a default portfolio, as a member: 1. Bookmark, 2. Duplicate, 3. Create alert, 4. Compare.]

To make a default your own, open it and click copy icon Duplicate. Your copy opens right away with "(copy)" after the name, and from then on it's a normal portfolio you can edit, rename or delete. It appears under Your portfolios. A copy doesn't follow later updates to the default; if you want the newest version, duplicate it again.

Reset to default appears only when your copy of a default differs from the published version, for instance because you picked another Buy & Hold market or we updated the default since you last opened it. It asks "Replace your copy with the current default?" and then loads the latest published setup. Your duplicates and other portfolios aren't touched.

Visitors without a plan don't see Bookmark or Duplicate at all, only the bell and the Compare icon, and the bell opens a window explaining that alerts are part of a plan.
