Create a portfolio and add strategies

Start an empty portfolio or copy a default one, then add, remove, rename and reorder until the mix is yours.

Building your own portfolios is part of a plan. Everything on this page happens on boards that belong to you; the defaults are read-only, so the first step with one of those is always Duplicate.

There's no Save button anywhere. Each change saves itself a moment after you make it, and the header briefly shows "Saving…" and then "Saved · just now". If you change your mind, undo left icon Revert last change steps back, up to 50 changes, as long as you stay on the page.

Two ways to start

Copy a default. This is the easiest route. Open any default (or one of your own boards), click copy icon Duplicate, and your copy opens with every strategy, weight and rule intact and "(copy)" after the name, without the [GPS] tag, so "Four Pillars Index [GPS]" becomes "Four Pillars Index (copy)". A second copy becomes "(copy 2)". Copies made before October 2026 may still carry [GPS] in their name; you can rename them.

Start empty. On Portfolios, click the dashed New portfolio card under Your portfolios. A board called "Portfolio #1" (or the next free number) opens with a three-step checklist: Add strategies, Set weights, Read the result. Rename it straight away with the pen icon, because "Portfolio #3" tells you nothing a month later.

[A new board: 1. rename it, 2. Add strategies opens the picker, 3. Start from a default portfolio takes you back to copy one instead.]

From any board you can also open the Portfolios menu at the top right to jump to another board or create a New portfolio.

Adding strategies

From a strategy page

While you're browsing Strategies, Add to portfolio on a strategy's page is the quickest way. It asks where the strategy should go: a small window titled Which portfolio? lists your own portfolios, with New portfolio at the bottom right and Cancel at the bottom left.

[After Add to portfolio: pick one of your own boards, or New portfolio to start a fresh one called My portfolio. Only boards you can edit are listed, so a name with [GPS] in this list belongs to a board of your own, not to the read-only default.]

Pick a board and it opens with the strategy added. New portfolio creates a board called "My portfolio" and adds the strategy there. Defaults are never offered, because you can't edit them. If you don't have a portfolio of your own yet, the window is skipped and "My portfolio" is created straight away.

If the board you picked already has that strategy, a note says "… is already on this board." and nothing changes. Added it to the wrong board? Click Revert last change, or remove it with the trash icon on its row.

What happens to your weights

A new strategy has to get its share from somewhere. If its market is already on the board, the newcomer gets an even slot of that market (with four strategies already there, it gets a fifth), and the strategies you had shrink in proportion, so the split you set between them stays the same. Strategies you locked aren't touched at all. A strategy for a market that isn't on the board yet gets its own share of the class in the same way. You can always fine-tune the numbers afterwards in the Weights panel.

With the picker on the board

The + buttons in the Weights panel open a picker. Which + you click decides where the strategy lands:

  • The + next to a ticker, such as BTC, adds a strategy to that market. The picker lists that market's strategies first and offers Only BTC or Every strategy.
  • The + next to Rules adds a strategy that gets no allocation and only steers rules. See Trade vs Signal.
  • The full-width + at the bottom adds a strategy for a market that isn't on the board yet. The strategy always joins the market it actually trades.

[The picker opened from BTC's + button: switch between Bookmarked and All strategies, search, filter by ticker, sort, and Add.]

The picker opens on Bookmarked, the strategies you bookmarked on the Strategies page. Switch to All strategies for everything. Type in the search box (name, ticker or tag), click a ticker chip, or change Sort to order by a metric. Click Add on a row; a line confirms "Added …". The picker stays open so you can add several, until you close it with close circle icon. Strategies already on the board aren't listed, since each one can be on a board only once.

Removing a strategy, or leaving it out for now

The trash bin minimalistic icon icon at the end of a strategy's row in the Weights panel takes it off the board.

If you only want to see the mix without it for a while, use the Strategies tab instead. Each card there has a small chart icon, "Exclude from portfolio mix"; click it and the strategy stays on the board with its settings but stops taking part. Click again to include it.

[The Strategies tab: 1. filters, 2. include or exclude from the mix, 3. remove, 4. open the strategy's page.]

The tab's filters (Asset, Asset class, Strategy type, Sort by) help on big boards. Each card's Open button goes to the strategy's own page.

Reordering the Weights panel

On your own boards a six-dot grip sits to the left of each class, ticker, strategy and rule strategy. Drag it up or down to put the panel in the order you like to read it, and let go; the new order saves itself. With a keyboard, Tab to a grip and use the up and down arrow keys.

[Von Lohengramm T7 is dragged lower in BTC, then moved back to the top with the arrow keys.]

Order is purely for reading: moving a row never changes a weight or a result. A row only moves among its neighbours (a strategy within its ticker, a ticker within its class), and grips appear only where there are at least two rows to swap. Defaults have no grips, since they can't be edited.

Opening a strategy from the board

Every strategy name in the Weights panel is a link. Click it to open that strategy's page with its own chart, trades and metrics, and use the back arrow to return to the board. This works on defaults too, and for visitors without a plan.

Renaming, describing, deleting

Click pen icon Rename portfolio to edit the name. Below it you can add a description of up to 1,000 characters, which then shows under the title. Save or Enter keeps it; Cancel or Esc doesn't.

trash bin minimalistic icon Delete portfolio removes the board after you confirm ("This action cannot be undone"). Defaults can't be deleted. The bookmark icon bookmark pins a board to the top of Your portfolios.

If the same board is open in two tabs or on two devices, the one you're looking at may say "This board was changed in another tab or on another device. Showing the latest version." Your last change may not be in that version, so check it and redo it if needed.
