Reading the portfolio charts

Five chart tabs (Equity, Allocation, Current, Correlation and Trades) show how the example account grew, how its allocation shifted, and which trades it made.

Everything on these charts follows the window above them. The line "Window 2015-01-01 → 2026-07-18 · Buy & Hold is BTCUSD" tells you which period you're looking at and what the portfolio is compared with. Visitors without a plan see the window end at the free cutoff, about three months ago; members see it run to the latest finished bar.

Equity

The gold Portfolio line is the example account, starting at 100 on the first day of the window; 250 means it grew two and a half times. The blue Buy & Hold line shows what 100 would have become if you'd bought one market that day and never sold. It's the plain benchmark: if a portfolio can't beat it, the extra work may not be worth it.

The Buy & Hold is menu picks that market: BTCUSD, ETHUSD, HYPE, OTHERS, SOLUSD, SOXX, SPX, TOTAL, TOTAL2, VVV or XAU (gold). Three of these are crypto indexes rather than coins: TOTAL is the whole crypto market, TOTAL2 the market without BTC, and OTHERS the market without the largest coins. You can't buy them directly, but they make a fair yardstick for an altcoin board. Members' choice is saved with the board; visitors can switch, but it isn't kept. If a market starts later than your window, "from 2024-12-01" or similar appears and the blue line begins on that date at the portfolio's value.

Three buttons change the view. Total is the line with a light fill. By asset splits the area under the line into coloured bands, one per market plus cash. Log uses a log scale, where equal steps mean equal percentage moves.

[Golden Path on By asset (1): each band is one market, plus cash.]

[All-Weather Index on Log (1): both lines start at 100, and the early years stay readable.]

On a plain axis a portfolio that grew a thousandfold squashes Buy & Hold flat near zero. Switch on Log before you compare the two.

Allocation

The split of the account over time, one line per market and one for cash. Two buttons switch the view. Target shows the split each time the allocation actually changed (a buy, a sale, a late market starting) and stays flat in between. Actual shows the split after prices moved: a market that rises takes up more of the account until a sale changes it.

[Golden Path's Allocation (1 Target or Actual): one line per market, plus cash.]

Neither view is the mix you typed in. If most strategies are Flat, Target can show plenty of cash on a board that says 80% crypto.

Current

A ring chart of the split on the last day of the window, cash included. This is where you see the mix a rule has actually produced, rather than the starting mix in the Weights bar.

[1. The 'as of' date: the last bar of the window, not today.]

Look at the date above the ring, for example "As of 15 Jul 2026 · window end". It's the last finished bar of the window. For a visitor that's the bar before the free cutoff, three months old, and the ring may look quite different today. A member's ring shows the latest finished five-day bar, so it's usually a few days old. Either way it's what the simulation held, not an instruction for what you should hold.

When a market is missing from the ring, its strategies are Flat and their share is in Cash. On All-Weather Index in July 2026, for instance, both gold strategies were Flat, so the 15% meant for gold sat in the cash slice.

Under the ring there's a button per slice. Members can click one to set an alert on that asset's share; see Alerts.

Correlation

A grid comparing every pair of strategies on the board: how alike their five-day ups and downs were, from −1 to 1. Close to 1 (gold) means they move together, so holding both is close to the same bet twice. Around 0 (pale) means they move independently and spread your risk. Close to −1 (blue) means they move in opposite directions. Dark gold isn't bad as such; it just means less diversification.

[Bitcoin-Only: eight BTC strategies with correlations between 0.85 and 0.99. They differ in timing, not in market.]

Trades

Every buy (Entry) and sale (Exit) of the simulation, newest first, with date, ticker, strategy and amount. "Amounts are dollars in the example account, which starts at $100 and grows or shrinks with the portfolio." Export CSV downloads the list.

The numbers under the chart

Below the chart are the same metrics as on a strategy page, worked out from the portfolio's line for your window. Profit factor, Worst trade and Win rate show a dash, since a portfolio mixes many strategies' trades. Time in market is often 100%. For a portfolio it counts a bar as in the market when any part of the account holds anything, however small, rather than measuring how much is invested. With several strategies something is almost always held, even though each strategy takes its own breaks, and a two-market strategy on the board always holds one of its two markets. Trades counts exits: each time a strategy sells to cash or switches market. Visitors see "Free version ends 23 Jul 2026. The latest 3 months are paid." above the numbers. See Metrics at a glance.
