Why does my portfolio...

Short answers to the questions that come up most when a portfolio does something unexpected; almost always it's how the simulation works, not a bug.

A rule shows Flat, but the Weights show the base mix

This is the most common puzzle. On All-Weather Index [GPS], the description says crypto gets 40% while BTC beats the S&P 500 and 25% otherwise. The rule strategy, Andromedus T2 - BTCUSD/SPX, shows Flat. Yet the bar at the top of the Weights panel still says "Crypto 40".

[1. The bar shows the starting mix, Crypto 40. 2. The rule strategy is Flat, so new crypto entries are sized for 25%.]

Both are right. The bar and the "40% of account" under Crypto are the base mix, the starting point the rules work from; the panel says so in its first line ("the bar shows the starting mix"). The rule's effect isn't drawn there. Because Andromedus is Flat, new crypto purchases are sized for 25% and new stock purchases for 50%. Positions bought earlier keep their size until their own strategies exit.

To see the mix as it really stands, open the Current chart for the split on the last day of the window, or Allocation for how it moved over time. See Reading the portfolio charts.

The Current donut says "as of" a date in the past

The date above the ring is the last finished bar of the window. Without a plan that's the bar before the free cutoff, about three months back, and the Long/Flat pills on the board are from that day too. A strategy that was Long then may well be Flat now. Members see the latest finished bar. Either way the ring shows what the simulation held, not what you should hold. See Free and paid access.

A market is missing from the Current donut

Its strategies are Flat on that day, so their share sits in Cash. All-Weather gives gold 15%, but with both gold strategies Flat in July 2026, there's no gold slice and the cash slice is bigger.

So much cash

A Flat strategy keeps its share in cash; other strategies don't take it over. Add missed entries (cash that freed up after a strategy's buy moment had passed), classes that add up to less than 100%, and rules with a cash share (Kralizec keeps 5% in cash at its lowest level), and a quarter or a third of the account in cash is normal. That's the strategies stepping aside, not money going missing. See How the simulated account moves.

What is "Backtest fallback", and do I need to do anything?

No. It decides where the share meant for late-listed markets (ETH, SOL, HYPE, VVV) waited in the years before they had prices. It shapes the early part of the backtest, not the present. Backtest fallback and late listings explains it with a real example.

A strategy is Long but holds nothing

A strategy buys only at the moment it turns Long, and only if there's cash. Check in this order: is it listed under Rules (those never get an allocation, see Trade vs Signal)? Is its weight, or its ticker's or class's, 0%? Does its market have prices yet in your window? Or did it miss its entry because cash was short that day? A missed entry isn't retried while the strategy stays Long.

A strategy still holds after its rule flipped

Rules size the next purchase; they never sell. A position bought under "Crypto 40" stays until its own strategy exits, even if the rule now says 25%.

I can't change anything on a [GPS] board

Defaults are read-only for everyone. Click copy icon Duplicate and edit the copy, which opens straight away and later shows under Your portfolios. Without a plan there's no Duplicate button, and New portfolio opens a window explaining it's part of a plan.

[1. Duplicate makes your own editable copy.]

Add to portfolio put the strategy on the wrong board

Add to portfolio asks "Which portfolio?" and lists your own boards; whatever you click is where it goes. To take it back, click Revert last change on that board, or the trash icon on the strategy's row. If you have no portfolio yet, it creates "My portfolio" without asking. Visitors without a plan get a window explaining that building portfolios is part of a plan.

The numbers change when I change the dates

A new Start or End is a fresh backtest from 100 on your first day, not a slice of the old one. Different start, different purchases, different result. Reset returns to the full window.
